Dear Editor:
I was incredibly disappointed to see the news of the Hamilton County Election Board blocking vote centers in our community.
As a Fishers resident who stood in line for over two hours during the 2024 presidential election, I was disheartened to hear that one of the members of the Election Board shut down a move that would make voting easier for friends and neighbors in our community.
Hamilton County, as a whole, tends to have higher voter turnout rates, compared to other counties across the state. Although the turnout rate dropped in Hamilton County in 2024, still 70.5 percent of registered voters showed up to cast a ballot.
Hamilton County leads the state in nearly every way and it is truly baffling to understand why approving vote centers would not receive bipartisan, unanimous support, especially when it would best serve our residents and would save the county thousands of dollars each election.
I would like to see my tax dollars spent more responsibly. Our community deserves better than this.
