County players compete in Junior-Senior All Star games

The REPORTER

Hamilton County was well-represented at Greenfield-Central Wednesday night, in both the girls and boys editions of the Junior-Senior All Star games.

The Senior girls won their game over the Juniors 81-71. Indiana Miss Basketball and recent Hamilton Southeastern graduate Maya Makalusky led the way for the Seniors with 15 points and five rebounds.

Makalusky, an Indiana recruit, faced off against her former Royals teammate, Kennedy Holman, who just finished her junior year. Holman scored 10 points, making two 3-pointers, and also collected five rebounds. Southeastern coach Brian Satterfield was one of the assistant coaches.

Noblesville graduate Meredith Tippner was named an Indiana Senior All-Star, but is recovering from surgery and unable to play. Tippner, a state champion in both basketball and soccer, is committed to the University of Miami.

Boys game

In the boys game, the Juniors edged out the Seniors 117-114. Noblesville’s Justin Curry II was one of four juniors who reached double figures, scoring 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Curry’s junior teammate, Baron Walker, also played, making one steal.

Justin Kirby, a recent Fishers graduate and Miami of Ohio commit, was part of a balanced Seniors squad. Kirby scored 11 points and totaled eight rebounds.

Futures games

Two county boys played on the South team in the Futures Game, which took place Monday at Fishers.

Guerin Catholic’s Jake Grissom led the scoring with 18 points, making three 3-pointers. The Tigers’ Cooper Zachary scored 15 points and dished out eight assists. Both just finished their sophomore seasons at their respective schools.
