NOBLESVILLE – The Fishers Unified track team defended its sectional championship last Saturday.

The Tigers won an exciting meet at Noblesville’s Beaver Stadium, scoring 116 points, just ahead of the host Millers’ 112 points. Westfield placed third by scoring 102 points. All three teams qualified for the Kokomo regional, which takes place this coming Saturday.

It was the third sectional title in Fishers Unified history; the Tigers won their first sectional in 2019.

“Our kids are amazing,” said Fishers coach Pat Schooley. “They did a great job up and down the roster, and just so proud of the efforts that they gave today.”

The Tigers had first-place finishes in six different sections. Aaron Schooley was a double winner, as he was first in Section 5 of the 100 dash and Section 5 of the 400 dash. Other Tigers getting section victories were Margaret Lynch (Section 1, 400 dash), Robert Barrett (Flight 1, long jump), Jonah Canada (Flight 1, shot put) and Cadence Bricker (Flight 2, shot put).

“This is an amazing group of students,” said Pat Schooley. “They love spending time with each other. We had a team dinner and hang-out at someone’s house last night. We did that last year as well.”

Noblesville had four section wins. They were Bear Zoeller (Section 1, 100 dash), Alex Harden (Section 3, 100 dash), Rory Hazel (Section 2, long jump) and Aiden Brewer (Section 5, shot put).

The Shamrocks also had four section wins, including Section 2 of the girls 4×100 relay. Individual winners were Celina O’Neal (Section 2, 100 dash), Alex Lardio (Section 4, 400 dash) and Kian Moainie (Flight 3, long jump).

Hamilton Heights finished in fourth place with 92 points. The Huskies had two section wins in the 400 dash: Ethyn Huffman was first in Section 1 and Ricky Munoz was the winner of Section 2.

Hamilton Southeastern was a close fifth place, scoring 91 points. The Royals picked up three section wins, starting with Ameer Abu-Salih in Section 5 of the long jump. John Trant (Flight 3) and Cameron Behlmer (Flight 4) were winners in the shot put.
