Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.-05) reintroduced on Thursday a comprehensive health care package to combat hospital monopolies, drive much needed transparency to stop fraud, waste, and abuse, and foster competition – all to the benefit of everyday Americans.

“Government-protected and subsidized health care monopolies are now consuming nearly 40 percent of all federal spending,” Rep. Spartz said. “Health care is also consuming nearly 20 percent of our GDP and is the main driver of personal bankruptcies. The rapid increase in health care spending is driving our national debt to record-high levels with interest payments exceeding national defense and are on course to reach 30 percent of all revenue collections. Despite the price of health care almost tripling in the last two decades, outcomes and the health of our nation are among the worst of any developed countries. If we do not fix fraud, overbilling, and government-supported anti-competitive protectionism in health care, our country will be destroyed financially very soon.”
