The University baseball team picked up another victory Wednesday at the Legacy Project event in Panama City, Fla.
The Trailblazers beat Owensboro Catholic 8-3. The Aces scored a run in the top of the first inning, but University came back to put up five runs in the bottom of the first.
Cooper Cammack drove in the first run, with a single to score Ryan Castetter. Charlie Ranek’s left field hit brought in Beckett Suh, then Cammack scored on a Phillip Jacobs bunt single. Sterling Davis sent Ranek home with a right field hit, then Oliver Kingery batted in Jacobs with another right field hit.
Davis doubled in Jacobs for a third-inning run, while Cammack scored in the fifth inning on a passed ball. The Blazers scored again in the sixth inning: Castetter led off with a double, then Suh brought him home with a center field triple.
Cammack and Davis both had two hits. Cam Rady pitched three innings for the win, throwing two strikeouts and allowing one hit.
University is 2-1 and finishes up play at the Legacy Project this afternoon with a game against the CEC Varsity Cougars from Louisville.
