The Sheridan Lady Blackhawks have been a force to be reckoned with in Indiana high school basketball, and their impressive run this season has earned them a well-deserved return trip to the Class 2A semi-state.

After an unforgettable journey last year that ended in a first-round loss at the semi-state, the Lady Blackhawks are determined to make this year’s appearance a much more successful one.

The Lady Blackhawks have been nothing short of dominant in the 2024-2025 season on the court. With a remarkable 25-1 record, and 8-0 in their conference, they’ve proven themselves to be one of the top teams in the state. And the students playing on the court are also dominating in the classroom. As the team prepares for the upcoming semi-state showdown, the excitement is shown around the school and the community.

Sheridan’s semi-state journey will begin at noon today, Feb. 22 against a tough Rensselaer Central team with a 24-2 record. Rensselaer Central has been impressive all season long, but the Lady Blackhawks are no strangers to facing tough competition. Coach Jaidlin Bradshaw has emphasized defense, discipline, and teamwork, all of which have been on full display in their dominant victories leading up to semi-state.

“I think the driving force for our team this year is how we left the season last year,” Bradshaw said. “It left a really bad taste in the girls’ mouths, and it has been the driving force for their wanting to win games and be successful. We have an outstanding group of seniors who don’t accept anything but the best from themselves and their teammates. Every kid in this program is an outstanding person not only on the court, but in all aspects of their lives. Our success this season is truly a testament to this team’s work ethic and character.”

If the Lady Blackhawks are able to defeat Rensselaer Central, they will have the opportunity to compete for the semi-state championship later in the day at 8 p.m., facing off against the winner of the Whitko vs. Eastside matchup. It will be a thrilling day of basketball for fans in Logansport and across the state, but Sheridan’s players and coaching staff have their eyes firmly set on the big prize.

For the Lady Blackhawks, the goal is clear: redemption and the pursuit of a state title. With the momentum of an outstanding season and a determined focus, the Sheridan girls’ basketball team is ready to go! As the team takes to the court the community of Sheridan is cheering for the Lady Blackhawks to bring home a championship and etch their names in Indiana high school basketball history.
