Royals beat Flashes for season’s first HCC win

Hamilton Southeastern’s boys picked up their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference win of the season on Thursday, beating Franklin Central 72-56 in a home game.

The Royals got off to a good start, leading 23-12 after one quarter. Southeastern led 34-23 at halftime, then took further control of the game with a 23-point third period, holding its largest lead late in the third at 57-34.

Four Royals reached double digits in scoring. Braeden Totten and Lucas Weemer both had 15 points, with Totten making three 3-pointers and Weemer draining two. Landon Osswald scored 14 points and led the rebounds with eight, while Maverick Young scored 10 points.

Weemer collected seven rebounds. Jack Jacobs and Osswald both dished out five assists, and Totten blocked two shots.

Southeastern is 1-5 in HCC play and 10-10 overall. The Royals play at Metropolitan on Tuesday.
