Hawks outscore Clinton Central in every quarter

The Sheridan girls basketball team officially clinched the Hoosier Heartland Conference championship on Tuesday, beating Clinton Central 54-29 at Larry Hobbs Gymnasium.

The Class 2A No. 11 Blackhawks outscored the 1A No. 14 Bulldogs in each quarter. Sheridan led 16-9 after the first period; Brielle Garner made two 3-pointers. The ‘Hawks then went up 28-17 by halftime.

Sheridan expanded its lead to 44-25 after three quarters. Kenzie Garner scored nine points in the third and would finish as the leading scorer with 17 points and reached double-double status with 12 rebounds. She also had four assists and four steals.

Brielle Garner added 13 points and totaled three 3s, making her third triple in the second quarter. She also collected five rebounds. Cecilia Timme scored eight points and pulled seven rebounds. Mackenzie Smith scored six points and collected five rebounds.

The Blackhawks are 7-0 in the conference with one league game left to play; second-place Rossville finished 6-2 in the HHC. Sheridan is 19-1 overall and travels to Southmont tonight.
