The Carmel girls toughed out a win at Cathedral on Tuesday, 42-39.
The Irish led 7-4 after the first quarter and 19-16 at halftime. Sydney Bonds and Mackenzie Woods each scored five points for the Greyhounds in the second period. Carmel then surged ahead in the third quarter for a 31-29 advantage, with Woods getting six points and Mallory Bourquein scoring five.
The fourth quarter was close, but the ‘Hounds edged out Cathedral 11-10 in that period to get the victory. Maddy Wallace drained two 3-pointers, then Bonds made two free throws with 4.5 seconds left to clinch the win.
All seven Carmel players that took to the floor scored at least one point. Woods finished with 13 points, followed by eight for Wallace and seven for Bonds.
The Greyhounds are 10-11 and finish the regular season Friday at Ben Davis.
