Daniel Maurice Kelso

January 22, 1948 – January 17, 2025

Daniel Maurice Kelso, 76, Cicero, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Maple Park Village. He was born in Indianapolis on January 22, 1948, to the late Russell and Leona (Barnes) Kelso. Dan graduated from Warren Central High School and attended Indiana University, where he received a bachelor’s degree.

Dan retired in 2018 as a Salesman from Olinger and Southern Wine and Spirits. He was a devoted member of Legacy Bible Church in Fishers and found great joy in attending church services and spending time with his family and friends.

A true sports enthusiast, Dan was passionate about Indiana University athletics, the Pacers, Colts, and Cubs. He also took immense pride in coaching and mentoring his son, D. J., for many years. Watching his grandson, Bryson, play golf and baseball brought him tremendous joy. Dan loved being outdoors, taking walks, and relaxing by the lake. He was a cherished member of the Cicero community and greatly enjoyed shopping and celebrating Christmas. One of his favorite pastimes was snow skiing, particularly during trips to Salt Lake City.

Daniel is survived by his son, D.J. (Misty) Kelso of Westfield; grandson, Bryson Matthew Kelso of Westfield; brother, William “Bill” Kelso of Florida; nieces-in-law, Kloey Blanke and Makala Shelley; and nephew, Billy Kelso of Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Leona Kelso.

The visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Hartley Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Kunda officiating. A private family burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery.
