Indiana Senate Democrats elect new leadership team for 124th General Assembly

Submitted by Indiana Senate Democrats

Last week, the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus announced the leadership team for the upcoming 124th General Assembly.

The caucus expressed gratitude to Sen. Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis) for his dedicated service as Senate minority leader since 2020. Taylor’s leadership was defined by his collaborative approach, working across the aisle to find common ground while consistently advocating for fairness and progress, laying a strong foundation for the work ahead.

The caucus elected Sen. Shelli Yoder (D-Bloomington) as the new Senate minority leader. Yoder brings a wealth of experience and a passion for advocacy, particularly in reproductive rights, educational access and health care equity.

Joining Yoder in leadership are Sen. Andrea Hunley (D-Indianapolis) as assistant minority leader, Sen. Rodney Pol Jr. (D-Chesterton) as caucus chair, Sen. La Keisha Jackson (D-Indianapolis) as assistant caucus chair, and Sen. J.D. Ford (D-Indianapolis) as caucus whip. The caucus is united in its vision and commitment to addressing the most pressing issues facing Indiana.

As the 124th General Assembly begins, the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus remains steadfast in its mission to prioritize policies that uplift Indiana families and create a brighter future for all Hoosiers.
