The Hamilton Southeastern girls basketball team used a big third quarter to pull away from Class 3A No. 6 Evansville Memorial Friday in the 4A No. 2 Royals’ first game at the Evansville North Showcase.
Southeastern outscored the Tigers in each quarter. The Royals led 15-7 after one quarter and 28-12 at halftime, then dominated the third quarter by a 25-8 margin to take a 53-20 lead.
Maya Makalusky earned a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, also making three 3-pointers and dishing out four assists. Kayla Stidham scored 12 points and collected seven rebounds. Kennedy Holman totaled six points, five rebounds and four assists for the game.
Southeastern is 9-0 and plays the Showcase host, Evansville North, this afternoon in its second game of the event.
