Guerin Catholic fights hard before falling at Lapel

Guerin Catholic’s girls basketball team dropped a hard-fought game at Lapel on Tuesday, 69-54.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter. The Golden Eagles fought back, holding Lapel to five points in the second period and cutting its lead to 27-22 by halftime. Ava Bills scored eight points during the first half.

Bills added another seven points in the third quarter, helping GC to stay in the game as it trailed 43-36 going into the fourth. But the Bulldogs poured in 26 points in that period to clinch the game.

Bills scored 20 points to lead the Golden Eagles. Caroline Ford also had a nice game, scoring 15 points.

Guerin Catholic is 2-3 and hosts Cardinal Ritter on Saturday.
