Voters pass Sheridan & Adams Township Reorganization
Indiana will soon have one fewer township.
Sheridan and Adams Township will combine into a single governmental unit on Jan. 1, 2025.
Voters needed to approve the reorganization plan in two jurisdictions: the town of Sheridan itself and in unincorporated Adams Township.
Those voters have spoken – with clarity.
In Sheridan, nearly 73 percent of voters approved the measure, and throughout the rest of Adams Township, nearly 62 percent of voters gave the plan a thumbs up.
Come New Year’s Day, the county government will relinquish responsibilities such as road construction and maintenance, snow removal, and police protection to the local government of New Sheridan.
