Boys soccer: Millers rush past Tigers for big conference win, HSE scores two conference victories

The Noblesville boys soccer team won an important Hoosier Crossroads Conference game over a top-10 opponent on Tuesday.

The Millers beat Fishers 2-0 at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex. Noblesville is rated No. 2 in the latest coaches Class 3A poll that was released last week (a new poll had not come out by press time.) The Tigers are ranked No. 10.

The Millers scored their first goal in the 21st minute, with Vinny Howard getting his team on the board. Noblesville added its second goal in the 73rd minute, as Vince Cash kicked a ball towards the net that Carsten Shidler blasted in for a score.

Alex Eberhart got the shutout as the Millers’ goalkeeper.

Noblesville is 1-0-1 in conference play and 4-0-3 overall. The Millers continue HCC action Thursday when they host 3A No. 18 Brownsburg.

Fishers is 1-2 in the conference and 2-3-1 overall. The Tigers host 3A No. 1 Carmel on Thursday.

Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 9 in Class 3A, solidified its first-place standing in the HCC with a pair of victories in its last two games.

The Royals beat Franklin Central last Saturday 1-0. Gabe Russell scored Southeastern’s goal, while Cam Joniec made one save while securing the shutout.

On Tuesday, the Royals picked up another conference win by beating Avon 2-0. Ameer Abu-Salih put in a goal during the 10th minute, then Russell added a second goal for HSE in the 68th minute.

Southeastern is 3-0 in the HCC standings and 5-0-1 overall. The Royals’ next game is Thursday at 3A No. 11 Harrison.

Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 4 in 2A, played to a 1-1 tie with Brebeuf Jesuit Saturday in a Circle City Conference game.

Robbie Burt scored the goal for the Golden Eagles, who improved to 1-0-1 in conference play and 2-4-1 overall with the tie.

Guerin Catholic played 3A No. 12 Cathedral on Tuesday; a score was not available at press time. The Golden Eagles play Saturday at 2A No. 13 Bishop Chatard in another conference game.

Carmel, the No. 1 team in 3A, played to a 1-1 tie with Brebeuf Jesuit on Tuesday.

The Greyhounds are 2-0-1 and play Thursday at 3A No. 10 Fishers.

University, ranked No. 20 in 1A, lost to Roncalli 2-0 on Tuesday.

The Trailblazers are 1-6 for the season and play Thursday at Greenwood Christian Academy.
