Mike and Debbie Laird recently welcomed 404 golfers, from all over Indiana, to the 21st annual Jake Laird Memorial Golf Outing. The weather was perfect and both 18-hole courses at the Pebble Brook Golf Club were in pristine condition.

This year’s event was the most successful outing since its inception in 2004 after their son, Jake Laird, an IPD officer, was shot and killed in the line of duty.

The money that is raised benefits police and fire agencies in Indiana with the purchase of new equipment, the costs of instructional programs, and financial assistance to officers injured in the line of duty. To date, the Lairds have donated over $1 million to police and firefighter agencies.

Among others, the opening ceremonies included Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen, who welcomed the golfers to Noblesville, remarks from Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, Bryan Wolfe, who sang “God Bless America” and the National Anthem, and the IMPD Honor Guard, who did a presentation of the Colors.

Gary Carroll, who has participated in every golf outing, said, “I’d say the Laird outing is the greatest spectacle in charitable golf outings. But for me, this is about supporting my friend, Mike, and his family’s sacrifice. It is about supporting our public servants, who put their lives on the line every single day. I am thankful, that in some way, I can give back to our law enforcement officers through this outing.”

One of the returning Corporate Sponsors at this year’s outing, Angie Turley with Fairway Mortgage Company, said, “We love sponsoring the Jake Laird Memorial Outing each year because of all the people who come together to celebrate Jake’s life and the impact the foundation makes to our police and fire service communities.”

Mike and Debbie say they look forward to new opportunities to continue to serve the police and fire communities and thank everyone for their participation in this year’s outing. For additional information please refer to TheJakeLairdMemorialTourney.org.
