The Softball Coaches Association of Indiana announced a handful of awards this week.
One of the more important awards is that of the 2024 Individual Academic All-State. A decent number of Hamilton County players were named to the list, and their names now follow.
Carmel: Alex Longstreth, Gracyn Erickson, Katherine Smith, Katherine Warren, Kathryn Merryman, Kennedy Baldwin, Mia Fleming, Paxton Law.
Hamilton Southeastern: Addy Justice, Lani Wyrick, Alex Kiemeyer, Jenna Chase, Megan Wincek, Reese Garland.
Noblesville: Gabby Fowler, Mack Harvey.
Southeastern’s Ashley Ransom and Sayla Stock were both named Academic All-State Honorable Mention, along with Noblesville’s Lulu Van Beek.
In addition to the individual awards, Hamilton Southeastern was named to Academic Team All-State, with a team grade-point average of 3.902. Guerin Catholic also made the All-State team; the Golden Eagles had a team GPA of 3.740.
All-State awards
Hamilton County had several players named to the various All-State lists.
In Class 3A/4A, Noblesville’s Gabby Fowler was named First Team All-State. Westfield’s Ava Kainrath and Hamilton Southeastern’s Grace Swedarsky were both named Second Team All-State.
Fowler was selected as one of the players who will participate in the 2024 SCAI North & South All-Star game. Fowler will compete on the South team.
The game will feature a banquet on Friday, June 21, with doubleheader games on Saturday, June 22 at Indiana University. Miss Softball will be named in between the games. Nominees are Hobart’s Keirys Click, South Bend St. Joseph’s Riley Zache, Tri-West’s Audrey Lowry, New Palestine’s Allie Blum and Tecumseh’s Jenna Donohoo.
