Editor’s note: Sondra Darlene Sheehan, known as Soni, passed away on Dec. 22, 2023, at the age of 83. Her first priorities were always her family and her devotion to volunteerism serving the youth of Hamilton County. In recognition of that work, the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville bears the name of both her and her husband. The following is a letter from that very club.
To Our Dearest Soni,
It’s hard to fathom a world without kind souls like yours that have made a profound impact on the lives of so many in our community. Over the course of the past five decades, you have been a pure example of selflessness while showing us all how to care without question. You have paved the way for so many of us to succeed by silently showing us the power of volunteerism and generosity.
As a proud member of the Boys & Girls Club Ladies Auxiliary, you spent an uncountable number of hours behind the scenes ensuring that our UpTop Shop was always a magical, memorable experience. Thanks to your passion for this annual event, which allows all Club Kids to participate in the giving holiday season at a minimal cost, thousands of us know how to “pay it forward.” You were able to bring the joy of giving directly into our hearts while letting us know that we were loved and always deserved the best.
Whether it was helping us build self-confidence through your fashion shows or teaching us the values of a solid work ethic through the UpTop Shop, you were always in our corner. Whether we knew it or not, you were always looking out for us with a sense of intuition. Your natural ability and awareness for seeing a child in need is a characteristic that cannot be matched.
You embodied the mission of the Boys & Girls Club in your life while helping so many of us overcome difficult obstacles. Without a doubt, your compassion has ensured that Great Futures are possible for all – no matter the circumstance. You will be missed but never forgotten.
Your Friends,
All Past, Present & Future Club Kids
