Volleyball: Sheridan sweeps Rossville, Tigers come back

The Sheridan volleyball team swept Rossville 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 on Tuesday.
Maddie Zola had 11 digs and 11 assists. Emma Went served three aces. Becca Merritt made six blocks, while Cheyenne Brooks put down eight kills and made five blocks. Allie Delph handed out 11 assists to go with nine kills.
In a Monday all-county match, University beat Sheridan 25-22, 25-19, 25-7. Merritt served three aces for the Blackhawks, while Went had two aces. Delph made 13 digs and hit six kills. Olivia Raines had 14 digs, Zola had 10 digs and three assists, and Brooks made seven blocks.

Fishers came back to beat Mount Vernon in four sets on Tuesday, 19-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14.
The Tigers trailed by a set and 19-15 in the second set, but came back to win the second by hitting five kills and two aces, plus a block in the final 12 points of the set. Fishers coach Steven Peek gave some statistics on his team’s comeback: “Until 15-19 in the 2nd set, the Tigers hit 20 kills on 0.125, had three blocks, served two aces, and dug 36 attacks. From that point on, they hit 27 kills on 0.265, had four blocks, served 11 aces, and dug 62 attacks.”
Sophomore Camryn Haworth collected 24 digs in addition to spiking 13 kills. Senior Rose Duffy handed out 40 assists and also made 19 digs. Junior Bryn Roberts and sophomore Jada Allen both put down 12 kills, while senior Haley Soper had three kills and 1.5 blocks during the second half of the match.
Libero senior Emma Rosenberg had 21 digs and four aces, while sophomore Olivia Lux made nine digs, hit three aces and led all passers with a 2.40 rating.
The Tigers are 16-4 and host Hamilton Heights on Thursday.

Hamilton Heights dropped a straight-set match to Heritage Christian on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
Hannah Crist hit 12 kills, with Kennedy Lewis putting down six and Syd Griffey five. Carlie Ward collected seven digs, while Kennedy McGill had six. Kennedy Lewis made two blocks. Lexi Hayden attempted nine kills and Jordan Fryman had six attempts. The Huskies had 100 kill attempts.
Heights was swept by Scecina on Monday, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21. Crist hit 10 kills and made six blocks, while Hayden put down eight kills to go with four blocks and two digs. Jordyn Beck handed out 15 assists, collected seven digs and hit two kills.
