McCarty first announced his intentions to run in September.

“God, family, and Westfield. Those are my top three priorities in life,” McCarty said. “From my time as mascot at WHS to volunteering for different organizations in the community, my passion for Westfield has fueled my purpose to serve others.”

McCarty, 29, says he believes there is a desire in Westfield for fresh perspectives, and that his unique background has prepared him for city council.

“If I see something that needs to be done, I do it,” McCarty said. “We need positive leaders who will be proactive, are willing to listen, and will represent all generations of Shamrocks.”

When asked about his vision for Westfield, McCarty mentioned that his four campaign pillars are positive relationships, improving infrastructure, providing safety, and encouraging engagement.

“Whether it’s walkability, making sure our public safety teams are fully funded, or making memories at a Westfield Welcome event, all four pillars are key to maintaining a successful live, work, and visit community,” McCarty said. “We can achieve this by utilizing partnerships, investing in ourselves through a fiscal lens, and making the most out of opportunities instead of pushing them away.”

McCarty also shared that he has been disappointed with the current city council.

“I don’t like bullies,” McCarty said. “It hurts my heart knowing that city employees, the development community, and even our residents have been mistreated over these last few years. We can be better.”

Still, McCarty is hopeful for Westfield’s future.

“Life is too short to be asking ‘Why?'” McCarty said. “Instead, we should be asking ‘Why not?’ Now is a pivotal time in Westfield and, if we choose to rise together, anything is possible.”

Victor and his wife, Chelsea, have one dog, Bucky. They enjoy traveling, volunteering, and cheering on the Shamrocks. He graduated from Huntington University and has previously worked at the Indiana Statehouse as well as Westfield High School. He currently works for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Indiana Realty.
