University falls to Bethesda Christian

University’s girls rallied from a nine-point third quarter deficit to take a 34-32 fourth quarter lead, however Bethesda Christian closed the game on a 16-3 run to post a 48-37 win, their second triumph over University in six days.

Making her first career start, sophomore Charlotte Conyers led the Blazers with 11 points and a career high-tying eight rebounds.

University trailed 25-16 early in the third quarter.  Three baskets by Conyers and a three pointer by Leah Norvell pulled the Blazers within 27-25 before the Patriots scored the last basket off the quarter.

Baskets by Norvell and Conyers tied the game at 29. Bethesda took a 32-29 lead before two foul shots by Anyah Turley cut the margin to one. Keira Bright put University on top 34-32 with a three pointer from the left wing with 5:42 left. The Patriots scored the next 10 points and University could get no closer than five the rest of the game.

University has a 9-9 season record and will host Lapel at noon Saturday.
