Three county girls among HCC Spring Athletes of the Year

The Hoosier Crossroads Conference announced its spring Athletes of the Year on Friday, June 12. This year, six of the seven honorees were from Hamilton County.

Girls tennis – Isla Harvey, Westfield

Junior Isla Harvey of Westfield has been voted by the HCC coaches as the Athlete of the Year.

Harvey won the HCC No. 1 singles title this  year after capturing the championship at No. 2 singles last year as a sophomore. Those two titles gained her All-HCC recognition each year.

Harvey went an outstanding 19-2 at the No. 1 singles spot for the Shamrocks this year.

Westfield Coach Trudy Coler said, “Isla is an incredibly hardworking athlete who consistently puts in the effort to improve her game year after year. Her dedication and success make her truly deserving of this recognition.”

Girls track – Anissa Lammie, Hamilton Southeastern

Hamilton Southeastern junior Anissa Lammie has been selected by the HCC girls track coaches as the Athlete of the Year.

At the HCC championship meet, Lammie won the 400 meters for the third time and was a part of the  4×400 meter relay championship team for the second time.

At the IHSAA state meet, Lammie won the 400 meters and was a member of the championship 4X400 meter relay team. Lammie finished second in  the 400 meters as a sophomore.

Hamilton Southeastern coach Julie Alano said, “Anissa has worked hard this season after an injury indoors. Outdoors she continued to improve and once the  tournament began, she was in top form. Running personal bests in the 4×800, 400 and 4×400. Anissa is a great teammate and enjoys running relays.”

Girls softball – Haley Schatko, Noblesville

The HCC Softball coaches have voted Noblesville senior Haley Schatko the Athlete of the Year.

Schatko was an offensive powerhouse for the HCC champion Millers leading the team with a .543  batting average. In addition, Schatko led the Millers with a school-record tying 15 home runs. She also had 51 RBIs, had a .558 on-base percentage and an outstanding 1.138 slugging percentage.

Schatko was a four-year letterman and starter for the Millers. Schatko also earned two All-HCC First Team selections.

Noblesville Coach Deke Bullard said, “Haley’s performance with our schedule was outstanding. I have never seen anything like that in my coaching career.”

Schatko will continue her education and softball career at Indiana University.
