The Westfield Band has announced that last weekend, The Pride of Westfield was named ISSMA Open Class A State Finalist. This is a milestone achievement, making history for not only the Westfield Band program, but for ISSMA (the governing body over competitive band programs in Indiana) as well.

The Pride will hold a Community Performance at the Westfield High School football stadium at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, and the group will perform at ISSMA State Finals at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Here are some additional facts regarding this achievement:

  • This is Westfield’s first Open Class State Finals appearance in school history.
  • Westfield is one of the only bands to compete in All Open Classes (D, C, B, and A) in ISSMA history.
  • Westfield is the first band to compete in the ISSMA Scholastic Class, promote to Open Class, and make Open Class A State Finals.
  • Westfield earned back-to-back State Champion titles while in Scholastic Class A before being promoted to Open Class A.
  • Westfield’s first Open Class A State Finals appearance also marks the 50th anniversary of the ISSMA State Finals.

Congratulations Pride of Westfield. Keep doing amazing things and keep making history!
