As The Farmers Bank marches toward its 150th anniversary, it has announced plans to open a new financial center in downtown Tipton, marking its 12th location and fourth county including Boone, Clinton, and Hamilton counties.

Founded in 1876 in downtown Frankfort, The Farmers Bank has spent nearly a century and a half helping individuals, families, and businesses grow their dreams. Now, that same commitment to community banking will soon be available in Tipton County, a community that shares the same values of hard work, trust, and connection that have defined The Farmers Bank for generations.

“At the heart of what we do is serving people, so we cannot wait to welcome Tipton County residents to The Farmers Bank,” said Chris Cook, President and CEO of The Farmers Bank. “We know that being there will immediately feel like home. We’re eager to actively participate in the community and partner with local organizations, city and county leadership, and schools, supporting them through staff engagement, donations, and sponsorship. Not to mention, we are going to offer great banking services that are personal and bring back the charm of being a local community bank in your neighborhood.”

Become a customer today

While the exact opening date for the new downtown Tipton location is still being finalized, customers can begin banking with The Farmers Bank today. Anyone interested in becoming a Tipton customer is invited to visit any of the bank’s financial centers to open a personal or business account with access to our new SMART Online Banking platform. Visit the locations tab at thefarmersbank.com to see the full list.

While visiting one of the Financial Centers, new customers can explore a full suite of financial services, from certificates of deposit and Money Market accounts, lines of credit, to mortgages and consumer loans, as well as investment and trust services. Simply indicate that you would like to bank at the new Tipton location while opening your account.

Tipton mayor’s remarks

Tipton Mayor Kegan Schmicker shared his enthusiasm for the expansion.

“The Farmers Bank has been meeting with me since early 2024 about how they could support our community,” Mayor Schmicker said. “When this building became available in the middle of our square, they immediately jumped on the opportunity because they were eager to invest in Tipton’s future. I’m confident our residents will come to value the relationships they’ll build with this team. I’m thankful to Chris Cook and the Board of Directors for choosing to bring new opportunities, jobs, and community support to Tipton.”

Tipton introduction luncheons

To introduce itself to the community, The Farmers Bank will host a series of “Rooted In” Luncheons in November at the Tipton County Fairgrounds:

  • Rooted in Growth (Nov. 10) – for business owners and entrepreneurs
  • Rooted in Community (Nov. 17) – for nonprofits, churches, educators, and civic leaders
  • Rooted in Agriculture (Nov. 25) – for farmers and agribusinesses

Each luncheon will be a chance for local partners to meet members of The Farmers Bank team and learn more about the bank’s community-first mission. Space is limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to contact the bank at communications@thefarmersbank.com to RSVP.

Let’s Grow, Tipton!

“We couldn’t be more excited to serve Tipton County,” Cook said. “So much of what makes Tipton special is what has made The Farmers Bank strong for 150 years – people who care deeply about their community and believe in growing together.”

Additional announcements, including the official opening date, Tipton team members, and community sponsorships, will be shared in the coming weeks.
