The Noblesville girls tennis team got another close win over a ranked Hoosier Crossroads Conference team on Wednesday.

The No. 10 Millers beat No. 18 Avon 3-2 at the Noblesville Tennis Complex. Noblesville breezed through its three victories, with No. 1 singles Bella Duncan winning 6-1, 6-2, No. 2 singles Allie Stamm victorious 6-0, 6-1, and No. 1 doubles Lina Hamashuk and Cami Crist winning 6-1, 6-0.

Millers coach Kevin Lindley noted that since playing in an invitational on Saturday, his team has played six matches over the past five days.

“They’ve played a lot of tennis and they’re tired, but they have taken care of business this week,” said Lindley.

Noblesville beat another HCC opponent, Franklin Central 4-1 Thursday in the Millers’ Senior Night meet. Noblesville sailed through the three singles matches with the loss of three games: No. 1 Duncan and No. 3 Josie Flinchum were 6-1, 6-0 winners, while Stamm took the No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1. Hamashuk and Crist won at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-1.

The Millers play Monday at Pendleton Heights.

The Huskies got their victory at No. 1 doubles, with Meredith Dodson and Taylor Harley winning 6-3, 6-4. No. 1 singles Sam Burk dropped her match 6-4, 6-3, but Heights coach Wayne Rupe said Burk was coming off an injury and played very well.

The Huskies were 2-9 after the meet (they played Elwood on Thursday, results from that meet will appear in a later edition.). Heights’ wins this season have come against Taylor 5-0 and Lawrence Central 3-2. The Huskies travel to Twin Lakes next week for the Hoosier Conference tournament.
