The Guerin Catholic swimming teams had fine performances at the Circle City Conference meet, which took place this past Saturday at Brownsburg.
Both the Golden Eagles’ boys and girls teams finished as runners-up, with Brebeuf Jesuit winning both divisions. The Guerin Catholic boys won five races, while Bridget Keller was first in the 200 freestyle for the GC girls.
Drew Wilhite and Quinn Sweeney each finished first in two events for the Golden Eagles boys. Wilhite won the 200 and 500 freestyles, with Sweeney taking the individual medley (2 minutes, 1.15 seconds) and butterfly (52.97 seconds) races, both in new conference record times. Wilhite also set a new conference record in the 500 free of 5:05.24. Both swimmers then teamed with Sam Miller and Grant Bricking to win the 400 free relay in a new conference and school record time of 3:33.68. Keller won the girls 200 free in a time of 2:06.98.

On Tuesday, both Guerin Catholic and University swam in the annual Schools Without Pools invitational at the IU Natatorium.
The Golden Eagles girls placed second at the event by scoring 248 points; Brebeuf won with 343 points. The Trailblazers tied for 14th with 43 points. Guerin Catholic won two relays at the meet: The team of Erin Reynon, Chris Dunasky, Keller and Erica Hunckler swept the 200 free and 400 free relays.
In the boys meet, the Golden Eagles finished sixth with 199 points, while University was seventh with 138 points. Wilhite won two events for GC, taking the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Sweeney was first in the IM. Neiman Kumler led the ‘Blazers by placing second in the breaststroke.
