Stephen James Costlow

November 9, 1947 – August 12, 2024

Stephen James Costlow, known affectionately as Steve, passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 76 in Indianapolis. Born on November 9, 1947, in Frankfort, Ind., to James and Lillian (Reeder) Costlow. Steve spent his formative years in Sheridan before settling in Noblesville, where he became a pillar of the community.

Steve had over 50 years of service with Indiana Bell, AT&T, and Frontier Communications. His devotion extended beyond his professional life into his community involvement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Noblesville Moose, and the American Legion. Steve was particularly passionate about the Noblesville Babe Ruth baseball league, where he served as President for many years, contributing countless volunteer hours.

A 1966 graduate of Sheridan High School, Steve carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life. He was Blackhawk Football fan through and through. His personal hobbies included playing cards, attending car shows, and enjoying time with friends, all activities that reflected his outgoing and engaging personality.

Steve was a member of the Refuge Christian Church in Noblesville.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Dale Ann Costlow; his son, Mark (Heather) Costlow; his daughter, Jody Costlow (Mark) Brillhart; his siblings, Cathy Burris, Chris Barrick, and Mike Costlow; and his cherished grandchildren, Tatem, Bella, Carlie, Catey, and Holden. His life was also touched by the loss of his granddaughter, Logan Alynn Costlow; and his parents, James and Lillian Costlow.

Steve was an exceptional Papaw to his grandchildren.

Services to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Refuge Christian Church, 11772 E. 196th St., Noblesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by funeral services promptly at 1 p.m. Friends from the Car Club are encouraged to drive their cars to the church, where a memorial car show will be held at the picnic shelter during visitation and after the services.
