Dear Editor:

I am writing to encourage everyone in State Senate district 21 to vote for Kirsten Root. I met Kirsten several months ago while attending a local meeting.

While chatting with her that evening and afterward, it became obvious to me and others that Kirsten doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. She started a community initiative called Pack the Pantries, in which she is committed to filling local food pantries in our community.

She is a former social worker so she understands the importance of investing in our people- from mental health and addiction services that help prevent emergencies to strengthening child protection, domestic violence, and community-based services.

She is anti-data centers; she wants to protect our farmland, our water, and our local resources.

Kirsten also understands that rising costs are harming us in the district. She wants to address those rising costs by supporting property tax relief, but still supporting our essential local services, which includes our public schools, along with fire, police, and EMS. Along with that, she wants to expand access to early childhood education and affordable childcare, so that more families are helped.

I support Kirsten for not only these reasons, but many others. She’s a fantastic, approachable individual, who when elected will always put us first, and work for our best interests.
