Sheridan girls soccer coach Brian Prange has been selected as a United Soccer Coaches Region Coach of the Year.

Prange, a longtime coach for the Blackhawks, led the team to its first-ever sectional championship this past fall. Sheridan then won a regional semi-final game in a penalty kick shootout to advance to the final eight in Class 1A for the first time in school history.

“We are extremely proud of our Girls Soccer Program and Coach Brian Prange,” said Sheridan athletic director Beth DeVinney. “Coach Prange and his team reached the Elite 8 this season with a 13-6-1 record and a very challenging strength of schedule. This award is a direct reflection of Coach Prange’s preparation, hard work and dedication to our program.”

Prange will receive his award at the annual High School Coaches Breakfast, which takes place Friday, Jan. 12 at the Marriott Platinum Ballroom in Anaheim, Calif., in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
