Sheridan beats Lapel, extends win streak to three

Sheridan continued its win streak on Wednesday, beating Lapel 60-53 in an away game.
The Blackhawks got off to a solid start, leading 24-10 after the first quarter. Sheridan led 36-24 at halftime before the Bulldogs made a third-period run to get within 43-42. But the ‘Hawks slowly built their lead back in the fourth quarter to clinch their third consecutive win.
Audrey Reed had another great game, scoring 33 points. Reed made 60 percent of her field goals (12-of-20) and was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Heather Barker added 12 points. Reed also pulled seven rebounds and had six steals, while Nixon Williams corralled six rebounds.
Sheridan is now 10-4 for the season. The ‘Hawks will compete in the Tri Tournament on Friday; Sheridan plays Daleville at 11:45 a.m. in the morning’s second semi-final. South Decatur will play Tri in the first semi-final at 10 a.m. The third-place game is set for 6 p.m., with the championship game at 7:45 p.m.
