Mr. Banks learns that one of the young men he has seen occasionally about the house is will soon become his son-in-law. Daughter Kay announces the engagement out of nowhere and the little girl in pigtails is still how George Banks thinks of her. Mrs. Banks and her sons are happy, but George is in a dither. Kay and the groom-to-be, Buckley, insist they don’t want a big wedding. But what starts out as a simple affair with a few friends soon grows with a larger guest list each day and that is when the real trouble and fun arises.
