The IHSAA announced the sectional pairings for this year’s girls volleyball state tournament on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Zionsville will host Class 4A Sectional 8 this year. The Eagles play defending sectional champion and No. 3-ranked Hamilton Southeastern in the first round, followed by another opening-round match between Fishers and Noblesville.
Second-ranked Westfield received a bye into the semifinals and plays the Zionsville-HSE winner, while Carmel also got a bye and takes on the Fishers-Noblesville winner in the semis.
Hamilton Heights travels to New Castle to compete in Class 3A Sectional 24, a five-team site. The No. 9-ranked Huskies drew the bye and plays the winner of a first-round match between New Castle and Delta in the semifinals. Jay County and Connersville will contest the other opening-round match.
Guerin Catholic heads to Frankfort for Class 3A Sectional 25, which has seven teams. The No. 7-ranked Golden Eagles play No. 6 Tri-West in a first-round match. Other first-round matches will take place between Frankfort and Brebeuf Jesuit, and between Crawfordsville and Danville.
Lebanon got the bye and plays the Frankfort-Brebeuf winner in the semifinals.
Sheridan will travel to Tipton to compete in Class 2A Sectional 39. The Blackhawks play Elwood in the first round, with Lapel and Taylor taking part in the other first-round match.
Frankton will play the Sheridan-Elwood winner in the semifinals, with Tipton taking on the Lapel-Taylor winner in the other semi.
University will host Class 2A Sectional 42. The Trailblazers take on Riverside in the first round, followed by a first-round contest between Monrovia and Park Tudor.
Cardinal Ritter plays the University-Riverside winner in the semis, while Covenant Christian will face the Monrovia-Park Tudor winner in the other semifinal.
