Boys soccer sectionals: Millers survive in OT, Hounds and Tigers win

The Noblesville boys soccer team got past Westfield in overtime 2-0 Monday to begin play at Class 3A Sectional 9 at the Millers’ Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.

The game was scoreless through 80 minutes of regulation, so it went to overtime, which consists of two seven-minute periods. Noblesville scored both of its goals in the second OT. Samuel Kattman put in the first goal, then Jackson Morris made a penalty kick.

In the opening game, Carmel defeated North Central 2-0. Evan Bardos and Quinn Wu both scored one goal for the Greyhounds, with Xander Dora and Curtis Droste each making one assist.

The Millers and the Greyhounds will play each other in the semifinals, with the game starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The second semifinal, between Zionsville and Brebeuf Jesuit, will start afterwards, at approximately 7 p.m.

Sectional 8 host Fishers won its first-round game Monday, beating Muncie Central 1-0 in the night’s lone contest.

Andres Artigas scored the Tigers’ goal.

Fishers advanced to the first Wednesday semifinal game and will play Anderson. The first round continues today with Richmond playing Mt. Vernon at 5:30 p.m., then Hamilton Southeastern takes on Pendleton Heights at 7:15 p.m.

Sheridan lost in the first round of Class 1A Sectional 40 at North Putnam on Monday, falling to Covenant Christian 10-0.

The Blackhawks finished their season 5-10.
