Royals win all-county game with ‘Rocks

In an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls game, Hamilton Southeastern beat Westfield 43-34 Saturday afternoon.
The Class 4A No. 10 Royals jumped out to an early lead, going ahead 10-5 after the first quarter. Southeastern extended that advantage to 23-15 at halftime, with Malea Jackson scoring seven points in the first half and Amaya Hamilton adding six.
The Shamrocks cut HSE’s lead to 30-24 by the end of the third period; Annabelle O’Hair helped out by making five of six free throws in the quarter. The Royals were able to stay comfortably ahead in the fourth period. Sydney Parrish scored 10 points in the fourth.

Meanwhile, O’Hair led Westfield with 10 points. O’Hair and Ashtin DeCraene both grabbed four rebounds.
The Royals are now 14-5 and have two big games next week: Southeastern plays at 4A No. 7 Lawrence North on Tuesday, then hosts Zionsville in a Friday girl-boy HCC doubleheader.
Westfield, now 13-7, travels to Brownsburg on Friday, also an HCC doubleheader. The Bulldogs lead the conference with a 4-0 record. The Royals are 4-1, while the ‘Rocks are 2-3.
