Westfield won its fourth straight game on Saturday, beating Noblesville 47-36 in an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at The Rock.
The Shamrocks led 14-6 after the first quarter, with Ashtin DeCraene hitting three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points in that period. Westfield extended its lead to 27-12 by halftime. The Millers cut into that advantage slightly in the third quarter, but the Shamrocks were still ahead 34-23 at the end of the period.
“I think we’re coming together well,” said Westfield coach Ginny Smith. “We play a lot of young kids, so I think sometimes we have some high highs and some low lows. But we seem to be really firing on all cylinders. Defensively, kids are doing a nice job executing and then offensively, I think we finally have some kids who are stepping up and knocking some shots down.”
Ava Henson scored 14 points to lead the Shamrocks, while DeCraene finished with 13 points. Alyssa Crockett handed out 10 assists and collected eight rebounds, while Henson pulled six rebounds.
Ashlynn Shade scored 17 points for Noblesville and also had nine rebounds. Anna Kiser pulled five rebounds.
“We were much better in the second half, but we just got ourselves in too big of a hole to get ourselves out,” said Millers coach Donna Buckley.
Westfield is 3-2 in HCC play and 8-5 overall. The Shamrocks next play Friday at the Subway/Columbus North Invitational, taking on 4A No. 2 Northwestern.
Noblesville is 0-5 in the conference and 4-9 overall. The Millers are back in action Saturday at the Southport Tournament, playing New Palestine in their first game.
