Westfield dropped a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Brownsburg 43-41 on Friday, Jan. 23, then went back on the road Saturday, Jan. 24 to cruise past Muncie Central 88-75.
The Shamrocks led 13-12 after one quarter, with Drew Haffner scoring eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. The Bulldogs came back to lead 26-24 at halftime; Brock Detamore had seven points in the second period for Westfield.
The Rocks surged ahead 38-33 after three quarters; Haffner added seven points. But Brownsburg held Westfield to three points in the fourth while scoring 10 to get the win.
Haffner led all scorers with 15 points, while Detamore scored 13.
The Shamrocks got off to a spectacular start against the Bearcats, leading 28-10 after one period. Haffner nailed five triples for 15 points.
Westfield kept its foot on the gas, leading 50-29 at halftime and 76-55 after three quarters.
Haffner finished the game with 30 points, including seven 3s. Luke Vandegriff poured in 19 points, while Graham Wilson scored 13. Detamore finished with nine points.
Westfield is 7-6 and hosts Avon Friday, Jan. 30 in another HCC game.
