Retired HSE educator urges you to support referendum

Dear Editor:

I support the HSE Schools referendum and hope that you will join me in your support.

I recently retired from HSE Schools after decades of service. Last year, employees received no raise. Since I took the district’s health insurance, I took home less money than the year before due to increased insurance costs. HSE competes with area schools to attract the best and brightest to teach and work in our schools. Passage of this referendum could help HSE to maintain world-class schools with dedicated employees to help our district’s children.

The district offers a wide range of programs to help students succeed. Without referendum dollars, some of those programs could be cut to continue to save money. Of course, personnel is the most expensive line item in the Education Fund budget.

Please join me and vote YES on election day or before to help maintain HSE Schools’ commitment to excellence.
