Philip H. Beach

July 28, 1935 – February 28, 2025

Philip H. Beach, 89, Westfield, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born in Sterling, Ill., to the late Henry and Ruth Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; children, Sue Musnicki (Fred), Peggy Myers (Terry), and Hank Beach (Leigh); and sister, Peggy Scharfenberg. He adored his grandchildren, Rachel (Chris), Parker (Emily), Brett, Spencer, Maddie (Alex), and Josie (Chris); and two great-grandchildren.

Phil grew up in Sterling where he met his sweetheart Marjorie Meyer. They were married in 1957 while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They lived in Adams, Mass.; Northbrook, Ill.; Decatur, Ill.; and Westfield. Phil lived a life of service, volunteering with his church, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club.

Phil undeniably loved his friends and family and truly knew no stranger. He was always the life of the party, warm and compassionate, and he thrived in the company of others. His laughter was contagious, and his positive outlook – along with his ability to listen intently – made everyone feel valued. He loved hearing people’s stories and was always eager to connect. He had a quick smile and was ready to share it with anyone he talked to – even in the morning before Marge was fully awake. He was friendly, joyful, unassuming, and sentimental. Phil was always the last to leave any party. His life was filled with so many wonderful friends.

He loved horses, mountains, boating, golf, and the beach – he rarely sat still. He was generous, sharing whatever gifts he had. Phil was someone who led by example. He was a strong Christian, and he was humble, genuine, and curious. He was a fighter and never gave up – using all nine lives in his 89 years on this earth.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Bussell Family Funerals is privileged to serve the Beach family.
