Overnight lane & ramp closures at I-465 & U.S. 31 interchange

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that lane restrictions and overnight ramp closures are planned at the Interstate 465 and U.S. 31 interchange.

Closures are necessary to place steel bridge-support beams for a newly widened ramp carrying two lanes of traffic from I-465 to U.S. 31 northbound.

A week of nightly closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., reopening before morning rush hour. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted signage in the area.

Anticipated schedule

• Thursday, Oct. 15: Closure of the I-465 westbound ramp to U.S. 31/Meridian Street
• Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17: Closure of the northbound Meridian Street ramp to eastbound I-465; I-465 eastbound and westbound reduced to one lane near the U.S. 31 interchange
• Monday, Oct. 19: Closure of the northbound Meridian Street ramp to eastbound I-465; I-465 eastbound reduced to one lane near the U.S. 31 interchange
• Tuesday, Oct. 20 and Wednesday, Oct. 21: I-465 eastbound and westbound reduced to one lane near the U.S. 31 interchange
• Thursday, Oct. 22: Closure of the I-465 westbound ramp to U.S. 31/Meridian Street

Detours

• The detour for the westbound I-465 exit ramp to northbound and southbound U.S. 31/Meridian Street is to continue on I-465 westbound, exit at the U.S. 421 (Michigan Road) interchange, re-enter I-465 eastbound, exit at the U.S. 31 interchange. See below.
