Once a Miller, always a Miller

OneZone Chief Operating Officer

The leaves are changing, the bright lights are turned back on, and football Fridays are back. Friday nights were always special growing up in Noblesville, but there is always one time a year where it seems to be even more memorable … Homecoming. Some of the best memories are leaving school early and finding a spot for the parade. We always found our way downtown and sat right in front of Randall and Roberts.

We would enjoy the parade and then immediately make our way back to the stadium. You had to get there early so you didn’t have to sit at the very top of the student section. Once you got there you would find your friends and not move for the next couple hours.

There is this energy around a Friday night game and even more so during Homecoming. I have never used the word “we” so much in my life. “We need to run the ball more” or “We got this.” But that is what Homecoming does. It makes you appreciate the value of community and coming together. It is what drives passion.

This year Noblesville Schools celebrates 150 years. Noblesville Schools gives you an even deeper passion of what it means to be a Miller. It’s tradition, toughness, and the respect and appreciation of growing up in a community like Noblesville. You create this belief that it’s YOUR hometown.

Two weekends ago the class of 2009, my class, got together for our 10-year reunion. We told stories, caught up with old friends, and talked about Noblesville. Friends from Utah to Boston came back and it made me think about how amazing it is that no matter where like took all of us, Noblesville was home.

I have been blessed to work across this amazing county, but for me there is something special when I stop downtown Noblesville. You feel like it is yours, that you are home, and that you are proud, no matter where life takes you, to be a Miller. So, as Noblesville Schools celebrates 150 years of traditions, school lunches and Homecomings, remember this … Once a Miller, always a Miller.
