Reflecting on success, service & supporting those in need

No Title Needed is all about getting to the heart of what drives people. Each week, Scott Osborne and Cindy Collins sit down with inspiring guests to talk about the passions shaping their lives. They’re not just interviews; they’re real stories meant to spark something in you.
This week, No Title Needed welcomes Fred Glass, President and CEO of Gleaners of Indiana, He is the Former Vice-President and Athletic Director at Indiana University.
Glass’ story is truly inspiring. He shares his hatred of working in his dad’s bar growing up but reflects on the positive way that it influenced his life. From keeping the change he’d find on the floor to changing his ways to become a successful student, attorney, and beacon for those in need in the community, what he has accomplished is nothing short of amazing.
Work with the Colts and the NCAA gave him the resume to step into his job at IU. Glass describes his work at IU – the issues with the football team and his work to heal the divide that existed at that time.
Seeing food insecurity as a child in his own neighborhood, it is no surprise that Glass became involved in this ongoing problem as an adult. In his work with Gleaners, he has seen that most of the people in need are poor, old, or are children. Most people who come to Gleaners are working but still can’t afford to feed themselves and their families. Although some people are “in and out” in seeking assistance, divorce, illness, or other situations can quickly drain their bank accounts, and they have to turn to Gleaners once again for help.
