Nita Mae Owens entered her eternal rest of May 2, 2023, at the age of 88.
Nita was born on June 25, 1934, in Albany, Ky. She was the daughter of Harley and Edith (Thrasher) Owens. She graduated from Clinton County High School in Albany, Ky.
Nita was blessed with twin sons, Gary and Barry. They were the joys of her life who never failed to keep her laughing. She was also the proud Nana of four grandchildren to whom she was devoted, supporting them always, from baseball games to school plays.
Nita resided for the majority of her life in Noblesville, where she spent 35 years working for Firestone Industrial Products, where she also made many lifelong friends. Her greatest joy was the companionship of her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and loved to share her gift with those she loved. Nita loved a good joke or prank and always had a laugh to share. She was also an avid reader and always had a good book – or five – to lend. Nita was a devoted sister and a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews with whom she cherished a special bond.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Barry; her sisters, Audrey Beaty and Christine Parrigin; and brother, J.T. Owens. She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Tina; grandchildren, Angela, Derek, Tyler, and Brandon; two great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Hartsock; and brother, Ernest Owens; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. Nita will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
