Nickel Plate Express hires Executive Director

Nickel Plate Heritage Express, Inc. announced Tuesday that Deanna Holt has joined the nonprofit as Executive Director. Holt will oversee operations of Nickel Plate Heritage Express, set to open in summer 2018.

Holt has over 13 years of experience in the corporate field and a strong background in operations management and customer service. Specifically, Holt has a passion for providing exceptional customer service. During her tenure as Area Manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car from 2003 to 2011, customer service was a cornerstone of her operation. Holt is committed to ensuring that passengers of Nickel Plate Express have a positive and memorable railroad experience by taking an active role in the training and hiring process for additional staff.

“I’m thrilled to join the Nickel Plate Express team and I look forward to partnering with the Atlanta Pacific Railroad, LLC and the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority to create an exceptional train excursion experience in Northern Hamilton County,” said Holt. “I am looking forward to hiring at least 20 enthusiastic individuals from our community, and to have the opportunity to bring visitors from near and far, making a big impact on our local economy.”

Holt is dedicated to philanthropic and community-driven pursuits and has called Hamilton County home for 15 years. Most recently, she has served Hamilton County as Organizational Chair for Our Town Cicero, a Main Street organization, since 2016.

Toni Dickover, Board President, said, “Deanna’s commitment to the northern Hamilton County community and prior business experience make her a natural addition to our team. I look forward to seeing where she guides Nickel Plate Express in the coming 2018 season.”

As executive director, Holt will oversee all financial, program and staffing operations while serving as the organization’s liaison to Atlanta Pacific Railroad and Hoosier Heritage Port Authority.

Formerly the Arcadia Heritage Depot/Arcadia Arts & Heritage initiative, Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad Inc. is a nonprofit. The organization will serve as the governing body for the new heritage railroad operation, Nickel Plate Express. It will manage train programming and marketing with excursion rail service contracted to Atlanta Pacific LLC Railroad.
