Neil B. McConnell, 87, Noblesville, passed away peacefully Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home in Noblesville.
Neil was born on August 8, 1938, Noblesville, to Pauline (Barron) and Bert McConnell. He married his wife of 63 years, Linda (Tomlinson) McConnell, on November 19, 1961.
Neil was a 1956 graduate of Noblesville High School. He dedicated 39 years of his career to Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson, working in skilled trades until his retirement in 1998. He later worked part-time at Oscar Dental Supply. Neil worked at H&R Block for four years before opening his home-based tax preparation business, which he ran faithfully for 53 years. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1962 to 1966.
A devoted member of Refuge Christian Church, Neil served as an elder, deacon, and treasurer throughout the years. He was also active in the Noblesville Masonic Lodge #57, where he had served as Past Master, and was a member of the Noblesville Moose Lodge.
Neil enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Linda, for many years, as a member of the Do Si Squares Club. He also loved traveling, camping and cherished time spent with family and friends. Known for his generous spirit and unwavering kindness, Neil was someone others could always count on – ready to lend a hand whenever it was needed. His quiet strength and compassion left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Neil is survived by his loving wife; daughter Tracy (Goodin) Salpietro and her husband Ron; and son Mitch McConnell and his wife Connie. He was a proud grandfather to Patrick Goodin (Lindsay), Evan McConnell, Greg Goodin (Maggie), Kelly Goodin, Nick McConnell, and Julia Goodin; and a great-grandfather to Miles and Madelyn Goodin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond McConnell.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, at Refuge Christian Church, 11772 E. 196th St., Noblesville, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. A Masonic service will follow visitation. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Refuge Christian Church in Neil’s honor.
