Native vocational scholarships available

The Indiana Native American Indian Affairs Commission (INAIAC) now offers a Vocational Scholarship for those wanting to learn a trade skill. These scholarships are funded through the sale of the Indiana Native American license plate.

To be eligible, you must be an Indiana resident attending a school in Indiana, and you must be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe or the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana.

  • Chef
  • Aircraft Mechanic
  • Health Care
  • Computer Technician
  • Construction

Applications are available at the American Indian Center of Indiana (AICI), 2236 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis, or by calling (317) 917-8000 or (800) 745-5872. All completed applications and paperwork must be submitted to the AICI.

A total of $10,000 is awarded. Minimum scholarship amounts are $1,000, and maximum scholarship amounts are $2,500. Application deadlines are April 15 and July 15.
