On Wednesday, May 20, Max Engling, Hamilton County resident and lifelong Hoosier, announced he is entering the race to be the next Indiana Secretary of State.
“For years, I have fought for conservative values across Indiana, and now I’m running for Secretary of State because this office has a real responsibility to the people of our state,” Engling said. I’ll fight to keep our elections secure, support Indiana small businesses, and make sure our state government is working the way Hoosiers expect it to. Indiana is built by hardworking people who care about faith, family, and doing things the right way, and I’d be honored to serve them as Indiana’s next Secretary of State.”
Engling is a husband to Kelcey and a father of four. He is a Christian and an active member of his church in Noblesville. He serves as a senior advisor to U.S. Senator Jim Banks and previously worked at Beck’s Hybrids, where he built a strong background in agriculture and a deep understanding of the challenges facing farmers and rural communities.
He is a graduate of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis where he served as Vice President of the College Republicans and received a Master’s degree from the Naval War College.
Convention delegates will gather at the 2026 Indiana Republican State Convention in Fort Wayne on June 20 to nominate the party’s candidate for Secretary of State. The nominee selected at the convention will go on to represent the Republican Party on the November general election ballot.
