Fishers Century Club donates to another community cause
The Fishers Century Club celebrated its fourth anniversary during the quarterly meeting last Tuesday, June 24, continuing its mission of empowering local charities through collective giving.
Members heard three compelling presentations, including pitches from the LifeWise Academy (presented by Steve Gilbert), the Heroes Foundation (presented by Justin Davis), and the winning pitch from Fishers resident Howard Burd for the Kiwanis Holiday Hopes program.
The Holiday Hopes program provides a unique and meaningful holiday shopping experience for underprivileged children in Fishers. Volunteers from the community are paired with children to shop for gifts, using 75 percent of the provided funds for their gifts and 25 percent to purchase a gift for someone special in their lives.
“This model not only helps meet immediate needs but also teaches the children the joy and value of giving,” Burd said. “I recently joined the Fishers Century Club by reading about the group in a published article in a local paper and absolutely loved the concept of helping local charities. There are far more underprivileged families and kids in the Fishers community than people might expect, and we are going to use these dollars to allow more children to experience this special holiday program in 2025. I’d encourage every guy in Fishers to join the Century Club – it’s an incredible way to make a real impact.”
Final tally of the crowd-giving funds is still coming in from guys who were not able to attend the meeting. The next Fishers Century Club meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16. All men interested in giving back to the local community are encouraged to attend and become a part of this growing movement.
The men’s crowd-giving organization meets quarterly, hears from three charities pitched by attendees, and ultimately vote to select a winning charity.
