John A. Cooksey

October 26, 1950 – January 16, 2022

John A. Cooksey went to his forever home in Heaven on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 71, in Carmel. His battle with serious medical issues in the last year showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, John came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. John was born October 26, 1950, in Noblesville. He was the son of Edgar Cooksey, Sr., Fredia Isenhower Cooksey and Stepdad Tommy Lair.

John was a 1968 graduate of Noblesville High School. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Air Force. After the service, John married his sweetheart, Kay, in 1977.

John enjoyed spending time with the family, fishing, reading, watching old time movies, and going to the casino.

John is survived by his beautiful wife of 44 years, Kay; his brothers, JR and George; and sister, Erna. He was a loving father to his children, Phil (Rose) Boothroyd, Don (Stephanie) Boothroyd, Mandy (Kevin) Brooks, Sarah (David) Stewart, Dawn Cooksey (Mike Cyrus), and Shawn Cooksey.

John was a proud Grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, followed by military honors at 8 p.m., at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Honoring John’s last wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
