Dear Editor:
I love Noblesville.
Those three words are why I decided in 2018 to run for the Noblesville School Board, and they remain the reason I am running for re-election to a third term this year.
As a proud Noblesville resident since 1977, it has been amazing to watch the growth of our beloved community. So much has changed over the last 50 years, and yet so much has remained the same. Above all, our community honors its history, loves its children, and supports our schools.
I have been deeply involved in our community, both personally and professionally. All five of my children attended Noblesville, and I am currently the proud grandparent of six Millers. I have spent many hours volunteering through a wide range of organizations and opportunities, and also devoted my entire professional career as a dentist within the borders of Noblesville Schools. It is truly an honor to serve this community.
During my eight years on the school board, we have worked hard to provide the most outstanding opportunities possible for our students while carefully watching every dollar that has been spent. Specifically, we have lowered the school tax rate seven years in a row, reduced the budget through strategic cuts to lessen the burden on taxpayers, and raised our district’s credit rating to the highest in Indiana.
Thanks to our careful financial planning, we have been able to give historic raises to our amazing teachers, invest in school safety and student mental health supports, and create new opportunities for students that ensure every child is ready to be successful after graduation whether they are headed to college, the military, or straight to the workforce.
All of these investments have been supported by our community through our current operating referendum, which will expire at the end of 2026. To be clear: it is not possible for our district to provide our current level of student programming, student safety initiatives, or support for our teachers if this funding ends. It is for this reason that the renewal of our referendum this fall is so critical, and our administration and board have worked hard to reduce the impact of this renewal on our taxpayers.
It has been an honor to serve our community as a member of the Noblesville School Board for the past eight years. Thank you for your support.
