Indiana Fever & Kay Yow Cancer Fund auction off game-worn gear supporting breast cancer screenings

The Indiana Fever and Kay Yow Cancer Fund recently launched an online auction featuring game-worn player shooting shirts and sneakers to raise $50,000 in support of breast cancer screenings and preventive education for women throughout Central Indiana.

Fans can bid on Fever memorabilia, with the team aiming to raise $25,000, which will be matched by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for a total fundraising goal of $50,000. The auction closes at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, with proceeds supporting Ascension St. Vincent’s efforts to expand access to breast cancer screenings and preventive education for women in underserved communities. The auction is part of a two-year partnership between the Fever and Kay Yow Cancer Fund and leads into the Fever’s Pink for Purpose Night presented by Ascension St. Vincent on Friday, Aug. 28, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

“Coming together to support Ascension St. Vincent and the work they are doing to reach women of all backgrounds across Indiana cannot be understated,” said Amber Cox, chief operating officer and general manager of the Indiana Fever. “We’ve seen time and time again how sports can be leveraged for the greater good. It’s a privilege to be able to come alongside the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to help reach even more Hoosiers, as well as elevate the mission and work their organization is doing across the country in the fight against all cancers.”

Founded in 2007 by legendary North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund carries forward her vision of uniting people in the fight against cancer. Inspired by Coach Yow’s 22-year battle with breast cancer, the Fund invests in groundbreaking cancer research, expands access to quality cancer care for underserved communities, and harnesses the power of sport to unite people in the fight against all cancers affecting women.

Funds raised through the partnership will help make mammograms available through the Ascension St. Vincent Mobile Mammography Unit, bringing screenings directly to women in underserved communities who may face barriers related to cost, time, and transportation.

“Expanding access to preventive care is work Ascension St. Vincent is deeply committed to across Indiana, and this partnership allows us to take that work even further,” said Mike Shaw, Chief Strategy Officer at Ascension St. Vincent. “Our mobile mammography team is already bringing lifesaving screenings directly into communities where cost, transportation or time can stand in the way of care. The support of the Indiana Fever and Kay Yow Cancer Fund will help us build on that commitment, reach more women and make it easier for them to receive the screenings that can detect breast cancer earlier and save lives.”

In 2025, the mobile mammography unit served more than 1,800 patients, including nearly 500 from underserved populations. Ascension St. Vincent also provided more than 70,000 mammograms to women across Indiana last year, helping expand access to potentially lifesaving breast cancer screening services.

The effort is supported through the Fever Fund, an initiative of the Pacers Foundation that advances opportunities for women and girls to thrive in sports, achieve academic success, and strengthen their communities.

During Pink for Purpose game night, fans can experience activations and photo opportunities throughout the fieldhouse.

Two-time GRAMMY Award winner and breast cancer survivor Sylvia McNair will perform the national anthem. Guests can also round up their concessions and retail purchases to support the fundraiser.
